The parking area is far from level, levelling blocks needed. Restaurants, including a McDonalds, for wifi just across the road from the Aire. Adjacent to a lake, pleasant spot. Busy road near, but, quiet at night. Autun is worth a visit, many Roman remains.

N50 32.155’ E1 35.563’

Just off the N43. Room for four vans. Alongside the La Sambres et L’Oise Canal. A pretty spot. Some noise as vehicles pass over the bridge (which is able to open to allow boats to pass) on the N43. Traffic died away to almost nothing overnight. There is unmetered electric hook up. A sign at the Aire say it is 5Euro per night to stay, but no one turned up to collect any money, and there is no facility to pay.

La Charite sur Loire

N47 10.480’ E003 00.674’

On an island in the Loire. The Aire is split in two. There are spaces for three vans on the river bank, and a further six in Quai Romain Mollot, where the service point is located. The street sign (Quai Romain Mollot) is extremely small and only really visible when approaching from the opposite river bank to Charite sur Loire!). Two charging points. Payment (Electric/Water) via credit/debit card. It is in an urban area, but very quiet, we heard no noise during our stay, and woke to birdsong.

La Couvertoirade, Mid-Pyrenees

N43 54.766 E3 18.970

The Aire is part of a Car park for a 12thCentury Knights Templar Village. It is convenient as a stop over as it is only about 3 miles off the A75. 3Euro per each time you leave (there is a barrier on exit, which costs 3Euro to open it), no facilities except toilet. The village in an amazing state of preservation!, and is open to wander around freely. Rather high (approximately 800 metres), so can be rather chilly.

Gravelines

N50 59.310’ E002 07.363’

Often use this as our first or last stop from Ferry/Tunnel. Now tend to use Cite Europe. Generally well populated, but quiet. Town short walk away. Reasonably pleasant. Church nearby which fulfils my wife's church-going requirements. Not free, pay by card only. Charge depends on season 3.50-7.00 Euro. No Services, although there are services nearby, I am told.

L'Hommaize

N46 26.101' E0 35.811'

This is a pleasant little Aire, behind the Town Hall and Infant School  Just far enough off the busy N147 to be quiet. There is space for about 10 vans, but, only two Electric Hookup points (free, unmetered), with water and usual emptying facilities (all free). There are also cared for toilets in the main square, and a very novel "bio toilet" in the nearby children's play park, complete with diagram of how it all works..

Honfluer

N49 25.150’ E0 14.586’

A very large Aire, 10Euro per night, including Electric Hookup, if you can get it. Water/Waste Services. Not sure what the "official" capacity is, but, over 100 here when we arrive, I would estimate. A pleasant spot, near Marina. Very pretty and bustling town, with shops, bars, cafes etc is short walk away (7 minutes), Cycling and walking options.

Visited: 2014

Hondschootte

N50°58'33", E2°34'51"

No facilities, but quiet and in the company of a number of  vans, right in the village. A free night. No bar to spend some money in. There is a boulangerie. There is a windmill apparently the site of a long ago battle. An information plaque to say (in French and English), this the the site of a battle between the French and The Hapsbergs, in which, it would appear, we played out another of our duplicitous European forays.

Visited: 2012

Lac de Vielle St Girons

N43 54.178’ W1 18.572’

An aire on one of our winter routes to Spain. It apparently has services etc and is alongside a lake. But, at the time we visited, in torrential rain, in January, it was actually part of the lake! The Aire being under at least a metre of flood water. We had to spend the night on a nearby car-park!

Visited: 2014

Marboue

N48 6.744' E1 19.722'

Toilets and emptying facilities for free, but Electricity and Water are chargeable (Electricity 2Euro for 55 minutes, extortion!). There is space for about ten vans. It is a very pleasant spot, on the banks of the River Loir and off the busy main road (N10), but, quiet. Approach.

Visited: 2013

Mennetou-sur-Cher

N 47°16'07", E 1°51'53"

We had difficulty accessing this Aire. Could not find an access route without width (2Metre) and weight (2Tonne) restriction. But, it is listed as an Aire, alongside Canal du Berry, so, presumably, there is a way!

Visited:

Mery-sur-Cher / Veirzon

N 47°14'45", E 1°59'24"

Near Veirzon. A stop over we have used several times, it will take about ten vans, and has Electric hook up, water and a toilet, all for 7Euro per night. Alongside busy road, so, expect some traffic noise. Novel design, central building with toilet, EHU, etc, with bays arranged in circle around building. Other than a bread shop, little around. Last time we were there, barrier entry (credit/debit card) had been installed.

Moliets Plage, Landes

N43 51’ 5.8” W1 23’ 6.7”

This Aire was recommended to us as a "safe" winter stop-over, en-route to Spain/Portugal. No facilities, other than street lighting and a Public toilet. We have never actually used it, having always having used/found alternative stop-overs, or, used the (free) Somport Tunnel Route.

Visited:

Mont de Marsan

N43 54.146' : W0 31.186'

The supposedly has EHU and Toilets. We find the Aire, (en-route to Somport Tunnel), but, no EHU, no Toilets and no water. We used Oloron-St-Marie, instead. Perhaps, we have wrong GPS Co-ordinates? Should it be N43°53'23", W0°28'32"?

Visited:

Montoire-Sur-Le-Loire

N47 45’ 27.5” E0 52’ 10.4”

One of our potential over night stops on our way south (Spain/Portugal) in winter. Approximately 300 miles south of Calais. Site of former railway station. With street lighting, waste disposal, Water, Electricity. All Free. Quiet. Montoire-sur-Loire is a pleasant and typical small French town, a choice of boulangeries, banks, cafes and bars arranged around the market square.

Visited: 2014

Montreuil-sur-Mer.

N50°27'33", E1°45'34"

Montreuil-sur-Mer is a very pleasant French town, five minutes walk away, with shops, bars, banks etc. If the aire is full, there is a bus parking area adjacent, which appears to serve as an "overflow" area. Clean "automatic" public toilets. Free, with services for 2Euro. ApproachLast ten minutes.

Nancy Port Plaisance,

A rather expensive Aire (25Euro/night). Good location id you want to visit city centre, but, on arrival, not impressed, scrappy appearance, some kind of trench digging in progress, alongside very busy road, all that for 17Euro/night, no thank you. Pont-a-Mousson, about 15 miles North is much better and only 10Euro/night (Sept 2019)

N43 11.032' : W0 36.511'

We use this Aire if we are going to Spain, via the (free) Somport Tunnel. Marked spaces for 7 Vans, (with a maximum stay of 48 hours). The Aire is virtually in the townbut, it is surprisingly quiet. Usual services. All free, except EHU which is an exorbitant 4Euro/hour. Oloron Sainte Marie to Mediterranean Coast of Spain, is quite "doable" in a day.

Visited: 2017, 2020

Poitiers Futurscope

N46 39.813' : E0 22.094'

A large Aire, particularly relevant for visiting Futurescope, I suppose. It's attraction to us is: 1) it is secure 2) it is open in winter 3) it is on our route to Spain/Portugal 4) it is approximately 300 miles south of Baie de Somme. Not exactly palatial, water, electricity are extra (by the hour and litre, 2euro/hour for Electric and 2Euro/100Litre for the water). Pay on exit, at barrier, with debit/cridt card. Beware the charging structure which is 7Euro per day, not 7Euro per 24 hours, so, you can end up having to pay for two days on exit (we did). Approach.

The station building houses toilets. The former railway line, is now a gravelled footpath / cycle track, heading off in two directions, so. The town of Uzerche (at least the old part), has beautifully preserved buildings, some dating back to the 1100's ! There is a very nice square, with a Bar-Tabac. On our first visit here (2013) it was all well kept and clean. On second visit (2015) it was a bit grubby, broken EHU points etc.

Amiens, Les Parc Des Cygnes

Les Parc des Cygnes (N49.921009, E2.2599) chosen after reading reviews. As always, necessary to remember everyone has different standards. This site has some good points, ie, close to Amiens Centre, with a bus (which is free on hot days, when they wish to discourage cars entering the city!), and, good cycling tracks. It's down side is, facilities are at the bottom end of the scale we consider acceptable, clean, but, basic, and, not adequate in quantity.

Anduze, near Ales, La Pradal

N44.06228 E3.98273

A pretty ACSI site on the River Gardon. A pleasant walk into the village of Anduze. The owners are very friendly and helpful and allow us to sit on their balcony so that we can use their wifi connection for free.

Annecy, Camping Coeur du Lac

N45° 51.286' E6° 8.651'

An ACSI site, along side Lake Annecy. Cycle track next to site. Facilities on this site are not as good as some (particularly EHU, which is a bit temperamental), but, it has by far the best location and views, of the Annecy sites we have used. Good walking, cycling. Shops nearby.

Annecy St Jorioz, Europa

N45.830009 E6.18169

Biscarosse, Mayotte Vacances

N44° 26.119' W1° 9.28'

An ACSI Site. Located on a lake, but only a short distance from the sea. Everything works, and it is clean and tidy. But it is clearly geared up for family entertainment. At the bar, you can have free wifi for the price of a drink. The barman even loans us a suitable electric lead so that we can plug the laptop into the mains and not be limited by the battery time.

Cavalaire-sur-Mer, De La Baie

N43.16954 E6.52966

An ACSI Site. Clean and functional. Perfectly fine. Swimming Pool. Cavalaire-sur-Mer is quite a large “resort” type place, but not in a tacky Blackpool sort of way, so, quite enjoyable. Good selection of eating and drinking places. Also, plenty of walking and cycling.

Visited: 2009

Chagny, Paquier Fane

An ACSI site. campsite, Very pleasant, all very clean and tidy. Free WiFi. Five minutes walk to lively village. Choice of shops and supermarkets nearby. It is wise to used the ring road to approach, rather than the "town centre" route. The "easier" approach is signposted, just, immediately after the roundabout after the Canal "Port" or Marina. The signposting is not exactly prominent. The difficult approach! Good walking and cycling.

The town of La Charite-sur-Loire is a few minute walk  and looks very interesting. It all looks very promising, another time perhaps!

An ACSI site, with an excellent location, on an island in the River Muese. Short walk to busy town. Facilities all very well kept. Extensive park area adjacent. There is also an Aire, at the entrance, which may be of interest.

Visited: 2010: 2012

La Clayette, Les Bryeres

N46 17'30" E 4 19' 10"

An ACSI Site. Clean and tidy, with good facilities. Adjacent to Sports Ground and a large lake. Short walk/cycle to town, very pretty, with a choice of eating and drinking places. Good cycling in the surrounding area, although, it is a little "undulating". We used our scooter more than the bicycles.

Visited: 2016

La Colle-sur-Loop, Les Pinedes

N43.68171 E7.08328

A well kept ACSI Site. Very pretty and scenic. Terraced, with swimming pool etc. The village etc are only 1.5miles away, almost all up a steep hill, OK coming back of course. Not cycling country, unless you like hills!

Visited: 2009

Collioure, Camping Les Almondiers

N42 31’53” E3 4’18”

This site was recommended by a French lady we met on our travels. She told us the site  was very pretty and the village of Collioure, right on the coast is beautiful. Both of these things are true. The downsides are, facilities are just adequate and the access to the site is "tight". We managed with our 7metre van. A German family, with a large Hymer Motorhome struggled to turn around, and, ended up having to reverse out of the site, when they left.

Visited: 2013

Coulon, Camping La Venise Verte

N46 18'54" W0 36'33"

An ACSI site. A very pleasant site. Good facilities, quiet, short walk to town with plentiful eating places. Good cycling, mostly flat. Good quiet roads for the  scooter too.

Visited: 2014

Digoin, La Chevette

N46.47977 E3.96759

This is a municipal site. It has wifi at your van for free, and costs only 13euro per night with the ACSI card. It is clearly a popular site, we arrived at about 15:00, and had a choice of spaces, but by 18:30 it was almost full. The town (Digoin) looks quite interesting, and is only a short walk away. According to the literature there are walks and cycle rides by the Loire. There is a Canal which crosses the river on a stone aqueduct type bridge.

Visited: 2009

Eguisheim, Des Trois Chateaux

N48.043387, E7.298604

An ACSI Site. Site is one of those which is “natural” ie not all of the grass is neatly trimmed etc. However, it is extremely clean and tidy with good facilities. Quiet. Walking distance of picture postcard village of Eguisheim, and traffic free cycle ride to Colmar (worth a visit).

Visited: 2008: 2011

Eguzon-Chantome, Camping La Garenne

N46.446171, E1.58229

An ACSI Site. Dutch ownership/management, usually a good sign. Good facilities. Short walk to (very pretty) village with plenty of eating, drinking places, and shops. Very scenic area.

Visited: 2015

Frejus, Flower Camping

N43 27'50" E6 43'28"

An ACSI Site. Stayed here, one night, in March 2018, because our first choice site not open. Not impressed. Muddy, uneven pitches, shabby, not near anything. Don't think we will be returning.

Visited: 2018

Geraudot, Camping Les Rives du Lac

N48 18'10" E4 20' 10"

An ACSI site. A pleasant site, five minutes walk to village, two minutes walk to lake. Approximately 5km cycle ride (on dedicated cycle track) to a Carrefour Express Supermarket.

Visited 2019

Gien /Poilly-lez-GienCamping Touristique de Gien

N47 40'56" E2 37'23"

An ACSI Site. Located on opposite bank of River Loire to Gien. Walkable to Gien, or, to village of Poilly-lez-Gien. Spacious pitches, good facilities. Plenty of cycling along traffic free routes on banks of Loire. Plenty of bars, cafes etc in Gien. Supermarkets within cycling distance.

Visited: 2011: 2016

Guines, La Bien Assise

N50.86639, E1.858333

An ACSI Site, only a short distance (about 5 miles) from Calais. We have used this as a stop before catching ferry/tunnel, or as a rest stop after arriving via ferry/tunnel (we have a 350 mile drive to Dover/Folkstone). I know it is very popular, and, there are many good reviews, but, we do not see the attraction. Tired facilities, generally muddy, not particularly easy to get to. We would rather use the Aires at Cite Europe, Baie de Somme or Gravelines.

Visited: 2011

Ile de ReLa Flotte-en-Re, La Grainetier

N46.187599, E-1.3435

An ACSI Site. A very good site, walking distance to village, although, there is a surprisingly busy road to cross. Good clean facilities. Heated indoor and outdoor pools.  Ile de Re is walking and cycling paradise, relatively flat, quiet, with miles and miles of cycling tracks. Despite dire warnings of "every thing will be booked", we did our usual, just turn up. No problem.

Visited: 2014

Les Issambres, Au Paradis des Campeurs

N43.36606 E6.71191

An ACSI Site. A good site with spotless facilities, right on the coast. Short walk (50 yards) to beach. Not particularly near shops, but, there is good flat cycling to shops, supermarket etc.

Visited: 2009

Jargeau, L’Isle aux Moulins

N47.86909 E2.11531

This is a very pleasant ACSI site, right alongside the River Loire. Facilities are basic but clean and functional. It is a 5 minutes walk into town, where there are a selection of places to eat/drink, a small supermarket, plus of course the usual range of French small town shops,

Visited: 2009

Licques, Pommiers des Trois Pays

N50 46’ 47” E1 56’ 52”

An ACSI Site. Close to Calais. A very neat little place, on the edge of the village of Licques, which has a small supermarket. A site we have used a few times, easy to get to from Calais, and free WiFi, but, not much else to recommend it. Even at ACSI rates, definitely not a bargain. Like Bien Assize, we have now abandoned using this, in favour of Cite Europe, Baie de Somme or Gravelines.

Visited: 2013: 2014

La Londe-les-Maures, Miramar Camping

N43.11845 E6.24639

An ACSI site. Well kept, good facilities. Close to Town for bars, cafes etc. This area is absolutely covered in cycle tracks.

Visited: 2009

Le Mans / Yvre-l'Eveque, Camping Le Pont Romain

N48 1'9" E0 16'47"

An ASCI site, just off the Le Mans ring road, in a sleepy village. Free wifi, swimming pool, usual facilities, all well kept. We used this as a stop-over en-route, but, it may well be a good choice to visit Le Mans.

Visited: 2014

Marcilly-sur-Eure, Domaine de Marcilly

N48.83184 E1.32972

An ACSI Site. The site is more geared up for large static caravans, than tourers, but it is very pretty and well kept. There are three swimming pools, and numerous tennis courts, petang courts, and table tennis, plus, usual facilities.

Visited: 2009

Meursault, Camping La Grappe d'Or,

N46 59' 8.5" E4 46' 7.00"

We had recommendations for this site from at least two couples. It is beautifully located on the edge of the village, among Vineyards. Facilities etc are all in good order. The village is a short walk away, and, very attractive. Plenty of cycling available, through the vineyards, but, it is rather "undulating".

Visited: 2018

Mesnil-St-Pere, Camping Lac D'Orient

N48 15' 48" E 4 20' 48"

My brother John used this ACSI site, earlier in the year, and, enjoyed it. It certainly looked very good, but, a queue of vans out the entrance, when we arrive at about 16:00 in the afternoon, in late August. The first time in 12 years, of not booking ahead, we have been turned away!

Visited 2019

Moissac, Le Moulin du Bidounet

N44 5'47" E1 5'21"

An ASCI Campsite, on an island in the River Tarn, just outside the town of Moissac. In need of a little TLC, is, I think is a fair assessment. We subsequently found a very well organised Aire, nearer the Town, and, moved there.

Visited: 2017

Montrejeau, Camping Midi-Pyrenees

N43 5'31" E0 33'14"

An ACSI Site. Very quiet at this time of year. Good quality facilities. A bit of a walk into town, but, once you are there, town is lively enough. Good cycling, but, a bit undulating.  Approach.

Visited: 2015

Montbard, Municipal de Montbard, Les Treilles

ACSI Site. Excellent site, clean, tidy, good facilities. Near an interesting (but hilly!) village. Town about 1 mile away, on good traffic free cycle track. Generally good cycling.

Visited: 2015

Narbonne, La Nautique

N43.147221, E3.00389

An ACSI Site. This used to be a fairly regular stop for us, a very nice Dutch run campsite about 3km from Narbonne. Each pitch had a small "bathroom" building, with toilet, washbasin and shower. Only downside was, near a large body of water, and, at certain times of year, biting insects could be a problem. In more recent years, there appears to have been a move toward more statics, at the expense of the touring pitches. Plenty of good cycling. Narbonne is an enjoyable place, and, easily cyclable,or, walkable.

Visited: 2010

Nancy/Villers-les-Nancy, Campeole Le Brabois

N48.657299, E6.14028

An ACSI Site. Very spacious and clean and tidy site. Easy bus journey in Nancy.

Visited: 2011

Nefiach, La Garenne

N42 42’26” E2 39’28”

A small but well kept ACSI site. The village of Nefiach, is about 2km away, along a traffic free cycle track. Many interesting things to see nearby. A stop off, on our way home (slowly) from Spain.

Visited: 2014

Neufchatel-en-Bray, Camping Sainte Claire

N49.73781 E1.42803

An ACSI Site. This has to be one of our most visited sites, I would suspect. It is superbly well kept. Everything from rubbish disposal to washing machines is well done. Each pitch is grass, but, has hardened "tracks" in case of wet weather. Facilities are spotlessly clean. It is five minutes walk into town. There are a choice of supermarkets for last minute wine top-up, and a garage for Diesel. A cycle track runs past the gate. About two hours from Calais, on good non-toll roads, we often use this as a first or last stop. Unfortunately, it is not open all year. But, it is so nice, we always try to stay a few days, and exploit the excellent cycling, Cycling - Neufchatel-en-Bray to Beaubec-la-Roserie.

Nevers, Camping de Nevers

N46.98214, E3.16078

Alongside river, opposite town of Nevers. An ACSI Site. Good facilities. Cafes etc in town of Nevers. Some cycling.

Visited: 2015

Oraison, Les Oliviers

N43.92295 E5.92361

An ACSI Site. The scenery is beautiful. The site is on a hillside (not too high), overlooking the valley of the River Durance, with the hills of the Luberon in the background. It is all beautifully kept and It is about 2km into the town, Oraison, with the usual collection of pavement cafes etc. If you visit, you must have a drink in the grandly named “Grand Café du Commerce”, opposite the church. It is a relic of the early 1900’s or even late 1800’s I would guess.

Visited: 2009

Paris / Maisons Lafitte, Maisons Laffite International

N48.939861, E2.14583

An ACSI Site, on the banks of the Seine. Ideal for visiting Paris, there is an RER station about ten minutes walk from the site, with frequent trains into central Paris (approximately 25 minutes journey time). The site is well kept, with good, clean facilities. The location has the added advantage that, if you want a day or two off from "the city", Maisons Lafitte is a pleasant suburb with shops, cafes etc, and, there is pleasant walking and cycling in parkland along the banks of the river. The site is open April - November.  Despite its proximity to Central Paris, access is not too difficult.

Visited: 2015

Petichet/St. Theoffrey, Ser Sirant

N45.00012 E5.77744

An ACSI Site, located alongside a lake, just off the N85 (Route Napoleon). We used the site as a "stop-over" when travelling North. Perfectly good site, clean, everything works, excellent facilities. There are all manner of outdoor activities, sailing, walking, cycling, swimming... etc. Note, if you are going North (as we were) there are frequent signs (in French of course) about some form of restriction approximately 13km North of the site. It is nothing to be alarmed over, a very steep (down-hill) section, with some traffic management, but, no hold ups.

Visited: 2009

Plombieres-les-Bains/Ruaux, Au Fraiteaux

N47 57'55" E6 24'59"

Au Fraiteaux is an ASCI site, 15Euro / night. approximately 4km outside of Plombieres-les-Bains, at a village called Ruaux. Good site, all clean and working.  Definitely not cycling country, as far as Kathleen is concerned, there are very big hills! Ruaux is a pleasant, sleepy little place, but, the only shop, bar, cafe, appear to be at the campsite. Plombieres-les-Bains is a "spa town", all very quaint, but, perhaps, a little faded grandeur.

Visited: 2016

Port Grimaud, Les Prairies de La Mer

N43.281021, E6.58239

An ACSI Site. We have been here a few  times before, on the plus side, it is right on the beach, and facilities are good. It is an easy cycle to the Supermarket, to Saint Maxime (about 4 miles, along dedicated cycle track), and to St Tropez (mostly cycle track). But it is a very big site, and since our last visit even more of it has been given over to static caravans and chalets. Not a place I would like to be in the season when it is busy, but at this time of year it is OK. It is very close to Port Grimaud, a modern Marina type development with cafes/bars etc. IMHO, Port Coglin, a short cycle ride away, and a similar development, is more pleasant, and, upmarket.

Visited: 2010: 2008

Port Grimaud, Les Mures

N43 17'2" E6 35'30"

An ACSI site, just off the "coast road". There is a part of the site on "the other side of the road", if you really want to be literally, ob the beach. There is a subway and a zebra crossing. Bus stop at the gate. Well kept, good facilities. Good restaurant. It is an easy cycle to the Supermarket, to Saint Maxime (about 4 miles, along dedicated cycle track), and to St Tropez (mostly cycle track). On balance, we prefer this site to Les Prairies de la Mer, but, those with children, may prefer the activities etc of Prairies de la Mer. It is very close to Port Grimaud, a modern Marina type development with cafes/bars etc. IMHO, Port Coglin, a short cycle ride away, and a similar development, is more pleasant, and, upmarket.

Visited: 2018

Pujols, Camping Lot and Bastides

N44 23'41" E0 41'13"

An ACSI site, only 12Euros. Everything appears new, so, facilities all in good order. Site tidy and well kept, but, almost empty at this time of year. Medieval village of Pujols, up quite a steep hill, interesting. Lots of cycling, along the River Lot. Villeneuve-Our-Lot nearby (2 miles), so walkable of cyclable, with plenty of bars, cafes etc.

Visited: 2015

St Aygulf near Frejus, Le Pont d’Argens

N43.40884 E 6.72511

An ACSI Site. This site has been significantly upgraded  since our last stay, including a swimming pool, I believe. As at the last time we visited, probably not the best site in the area in terms of tidiness and modernity of facilities, but everything works and it is clean. On the plus side there is a traffic free cycle track (once you have diced with death to cross the road at the site entrance). There is a big supermarket about five minutes away on a bicycle. Another plus, if this is your thing, the beach can be reached via a gate at the rear of the site, so, no roads to cross. St Aygulf is a pleasant little place. Lots of cycling, walking, and there always seems to be some event or something of interest going on.

Visited: 2008: 2009:

St Aygulf, Le Jardins de Mai Tai

N43 24'37" E6 42'29"

An ACSI Site. We did not actually get to stay at this site, because it was closed, ie, not yet open for season. (March 2018). It did look promising. No fault of theirs, or ACSI, a planning error on our part. Another time perhaps.

Visited: 2018

Saint-Jal

N45.399168 E1.645556

A Site we stumbled upon when cycling from Uzerche. No-one staying there (june, 2013), but, a beautifully kept area, very tranquil and pretty. We did not stay there, we were on our way home (slowly) from Spain.

Visited: 2013

St Jean-de-Luz, La Ferme Erromardie

N43 24'20" W001 38'30"

A pleasant ACSI site. Good facilities, although it appears to cater mainly for statics. Good walking and cycling. We used this as a "stop-over" (ie rest break and use of facilities for clothes, hair washing, etc), when en-route to (or from) Spain / Portugal.

Visited: 2013

St Martin-de-Crau, Camping de La Crau

N43.637718, E4.80572

A small ACSI site on the edge of a large village, and behind a Hotel, with a restaurant. The village seems quite pleasant. Site is good, facilities etc all fine, but, another site which appears to be moving towards being dominated by "statics".

Visited: 2010

St Remy-de-Provence, Le Parc de la Bastide

N43 47'24" E4 50'39"

An ACSI site, 17Euro/night, including "free" WiFi, EHU. How to describe it? Relaxed, perhaps, ie a bit rough around the edges. Facilities dated, but, kept very clean, by diligent cleaner. Quiet. Biggest problem to Kathleen, EHU is only 6amps, which struggles to cope with her industrial strength hair dryer. If you don't have such exacting hair dryer requirements, you will find it fine, I am sure. Lots of pleasant walking and cycling. St Reay-de-Provence about five minutes walk away, with a great choice of eating and drinking places, we tried Lunch at Bistrot de Alpilleswhich was very enjoyable.

Visited: 2018

St Satur, Les Portes de Sancerre

N47 20'32" E2 51'58"

An ACSI Site, on the banks of the River Loire. Perhaps, we caught them on a bad day, but, we were not impressed, a bit grubby. We did not stay. A shame, we had intended a cycle ride to Sancerre, to sample the Wine!

Visited: 2018

SaumurIle de Offard

N47 15' 36" W0 3' 52"

An ACSI Sitelocated, as it's name suggests, on an island in the River Loire. Good level pitches, facilities all functional and clean. Short walk to Saumur town centre. Saumur is a lively place, with plenty of shops, bars, cafes. Cycling and walking are plentiful

Visited: 2014

Santenay, Des Sources Santenay

An ACSI The site is fine, not the best I have ever been on, but facilities are perfectly adequate, and it is tidy and quiet. The site was recommended by an elderly (ie older than me) chap who we met on our travels. He recommended it based on the cycling, and, he was certainly right about that.

Visited: 2011

Saverne, Seasonova Les Portes d'Alsace

N46 43' 52" E7 21' 19

An ASCI site, and, only 15Euro/night. It is also very pleasant. The site is a short walk from the bustling and very pleasant Town Centre. Saverne is a place we discovered before we had a Motorhome, and roamed Europe by car. We enjoyed it so much, we have returned several times.

Visited: 2016

Tain-l'Hermitage, Municipal les Lacs

N45 4' 0' E4 51'6"

A quite small, but pleasant, ACSI site, on the banks of the River Rhone, and just off the "N" road south. The site is clearly a "stop-over" on the way North or South, since, next morning, everyone except ourselves and two others, are up and away by 09:00. Indeed, we use it as such on our way South, but, it is so pleasant with excellent walking and cycling, along the banks of the Rhone that we linger for a few days on our way North again.

Visited: 2108

Thonon-Les-Bains, Saint Disdille

N46.39933, E6.50398

This is a large ACSI site, but, not very busy, when we visited. So it is suitably quiet. Facilities are upto scratch. There is a nature reserve next to the site, and 200 yards from the entrance to the site, you are in a parkland area, on the shore of the Lake Geneva (or Lac Leman as the French know it). A very scenic place, with excellent walking and cycling.

Visited: 2011

Tournus, Camping Tournus

N45 34'25" E4 54'34"

An ACSI site, 17Euro/night. The site is on the banks of the River Soane, and, promises to be very pleasant, if only the sun shines!, but, for most of our visit, it rains, and it rains and it rains! Tournus is a pretty enough little place and, there are lots of cycling options. I am sure, on a sunny day, it will be beautiful.

Visited: 2106

Le Val de Loire, Les Rosiers-sur-Loire

N47.35891, E-0.22551

An ACSI Site. We were not blessed with good weather, so, did not stay long, although we did manage to fit in some good cycling. No reflection on the site which was perfectly good, with swimming pool etc.

Visited: 2010

Versailles, Camping Huttopia Versailles

N48 47'39" E2 9'40"

An ACSI site. Fairly typical "city site" not perfect, but, useful to visit Palace of Versailles or, indeed, central Paris, since there is a railway station about 7 minutes walk away. It is well located for visiting the Palace of Versailles. It is close enough to walk (45 minutes), or cycle (10 minutes), there are also buses, or, of course Taxis. In addition to the obvious attraction of the Palace, there area is interesting to explore on foot or bicycle (there are good cycle tracks). Not difficult to access, despite its proximity to Paris.

Visited: 2018

Vichy, La Croix St-Martin

N46.107639, E3.43667

An ACSI Site. Close to Vichy with a walk/cycle track along river to town. Pleasant site, although, we used it simply as a stop over, swimming pool, good facilities. Vichy looks like an interesting place to visit, so, worth a return visit perhaps.

Visited: 2009

La Ville-aux-Dames, Les Acacias

N47 24'7" E0 46'48"

An ACSI site. On of first visit here (2008) we were not impressed. For our second visit, it has apparently changed management, and is better for it. All fine. We only used it as a stop-over on our way South to Spain/Portugal. Unlikely to use it again for that purpose as we have alternative Aire stop-overs. Maybe worth considering for a visit to Tours.

Visited: 2008: 2013

Vincelles / Auxerre Les Ceriselles

N47.706384  E3.635451

Very well kept ACSI site, friendly staff, and only 15Euro/night, including 10amp EHU. Grass pitches, but, with "hardened" pitches for Motorhomes, just in case it is wet. Good facilities, well kept. Excellent cycling to Auxerre, which is an excellent place, but, the immediate area is somewhat run down

Visited: 2018

Wimereux, L’Ete Indien

N50 45’10” E1 36’28”

An ACSI site (16Euro). Other than the views, and proximity to Calais, not really that impressive, but, it has the essentials, ie good power (10amps), and plenty of hot water, so useful for "services" to allow for hair washing etc. Not a site we would recommend otherwise, rather shabby and tacky. More geared toward statics and "glamping" than tourers, IMHO.
